Field Trial: Nitricity’s Calcium-Fortified Ash Tea Shows Promise Across Diverse Crops

As growers continue to seek more sustainable and effective solutions for improving crop productivity, Nitricity remains committed to innovative solutions that support both soil health and yield performance. Our Calcium (Ca)-fortified Ash Tea is a commercially available organic fertilizer, designed to deliver essential nutrients in a liquid form.

To evaluate its real-world performance, we partnered with four farmers across Central California and a variety of crop types. These early-season trials have yielded highly encouraging results, with treated fields demonstrating improvements in crop performance compared to control plots using standard organic fertilizers.

Overview of the Trials

Our current trial program includes four independent field trials, each managed by a different grower under varying climate conditions, soil types, and crops. The goal is to assess the performance of Nitricity’s Ash Tea in a wide range of real farming environments. These farmer-led trials provide a valuable perspective on how the product performs outside of controlled research plots.

Current trial locations and crops include:

  • Hollister – Cilantro

  • Greenfield – Celery

  • Oxnard – Raspberries

  • Pescadero – Leafy Greens

Key Observations

  • Consistently higher yields across all four sites

  • Improved plant vigor and uniformity

  • Positive feedback from growers regarding ease of use and crop response

Preliminary data shows strong performance gains, with some sites reporting up to a 30% yield increase and noticeable improvements in early plant growth. Trials also highlight better input efficiency, enhanced crop quality, and positive trends in soil health metrics like microbial activity and nutrient availability. Ash Tea is proving to be a valuable tool for both productivity and long-term soil resilience.

Why It Works

Nitricity’s Calcium-fortified Ash Tea stands out because it provides mid-season, plant-available nitrogen (N) and calcium (Ca), two nutrients that are often difficult to access in organic systems. While these nutrients support plant growth, they also play a critical role in improving the overall health and function of the soil itself.

By delivering a unique combination of calcium, nitrogen, and carbon, Ash Tea helps enrich the soil’s physical properties. The added calcium improves soil structure by promoting the aggregation of soil particles, which enhances porosity, aeration, and water movement. This creates a better environment for root growth and microbial life.

The carbon content helps feed soil microbes, supporting a more active and diverse microbial community that is essential for nutrient cycling, organic matter development, and overall soil resilience. Ash Tea provides nutrients in a readily available form while also contributing to the organic matter and microbial activity that build long-term soil fertility.

A Promising Path Forward

The early success of these farmer-led field trials points to a promising future for our Calcium-fortified Ash Tea in organic and regenerative farming systems. By providing plant-available nutrients at key growth stages, Ash Tea complements the slower nutrient release typical of organic fertility programs, helping to meet crop demand without compromising the principles of soil health and sustainability.

We look forward to continuing these trials throughout the season and expanding our work with more growers in the near future. We’re excited about what this innovation means for the future of farming and will continue to share updates as more data becomes available.

Thank you for following along as we support new solutions that drive better yields, stronger crops, and a healthier planet.
