The trial was conducted in Woodland, CA between May 2022 and September 2022. Corn was planted as a cover crop following oat crop. The nitrogen (N) fertilizer treatments were Nitricity’s Calcium Nitrate (CN) and standard UAN bought in the market. Both fertilizers were applied at a rate of 25 lbs N/acre, besides started fertilizer 8-24-6 applied to both treatments at a rate of 23 lbs N/acre.
During the hot summer month, the nitrate form of N in CN was more efficient than the ammoniacal form of N in UAN. On average, plants fertilized with CN had a higher total dry biomass (+4.9%) and grain yield (5.6%) than UAN*.
